Hey – I’m Nett Jackson.

If we’re sitting across from each other, I’d probably start by saying that I didn’t come into this work through branding or marketing. I came into it through journalism, curiosity, and spending a lot of time paying attention to people and process.

When I was finishing my journalism degree, I had a moment where I realized I needed to be intentional about what I decided my craft to. I didn’t want to tell stories just to tell them – I wanted my work to matter. Around that time, I started paying closer attention to the cannabis industry. I saw how far it had come, how much further it still had to go, and I knew I wanted to contribute in a way that felt responsible and grounded.

I also knew I didn’t know enough yet.

So I started from the bottom. I worked in trim, hands on with plants every day. That experience reshaped how I understand cannabis. It stopped being a single, generic thing and became something detailed and expressive. Every strain behaved differently. Every plant told you, in its own way, whether it had been cared for properly. Learning to notice the difference changed how I see quality – and it’s a skill I still rely on when I’m behind a camera.

From there, I moved into dispensary work, where I learned how to communicate with people who were all coming from different places. Some knew exactly what they wanted, some were brand new and some just needed help putting words to a feeling. That time taught me how to listen first and explain second – how to break things down without talking down.

Alongside all of this, I became involved with BIPOCANN, a social equity organization focused on creating space, access and opportunity within the cannabis industry. Through my work as Communications Director, I’ve helped document and amplify the voices of entrepreneurs, mentors and community members doing the work to move the industry forward. The experience reinforced something I already believed: storytelling carries responsibility.

Later, my work in wholesale cannabis accessories gave me a different perspective – how businesses operate behind the scenes, how decisions are made, and how marketing fits into the larger picture. I’ve worked in Warehouse Operations, Customer Service, Accounting, and now Marketing Coordination. I understand what it takes to keep things running, and I understand how visual content actually needs to function in the real world.

All of that informs how I work today.

I don’t approach projects as an outsider trying to shape a narrative. I come in as someone who’s been in the rooms, done the work, and knows how much care goes into building something from the ground up. My role is to help you see your story clearly and document it in a way that feels honest, thoughtful, and true to the people behind it.

While much of my work lives in the cannabis space, my foundation in journalism allows me to work across industries. What matters most to meis respect – for the process, for the people involved and for the story itself.

If you care about what you’re building and want it documented with the same level of care, then we’ll probably work well together.
